It is not uncommon for domestic hot water coil gaskets to leak. These leaks lead to the loss of boiler chemicals and the addition of fresh water to the boiler which is corrosive to the steel of the boiler. In order to repair these leaks, the domestic hot water coil must be pulled out of the boiler. The faceplate surface then has to be cleaned and new gaskets must be installed. In extreme conditions when the coil faceplate is beyond repair, a new faceplate must be welded onto the boiler in order to reinstall the coil. This work must be performed by a Certified R-Stamp Certified Welder and inspected by a New York State Inspector.
